10 Things that Keep Me Alive even When It Feels Like I’m Down

Sometimes, life has its own surprises, whether good or bad. No one will ever know how humans can survive with all the ins and outs of their problems. But, in my opinion, there will always be a solution. Likewise with my current condition, which is being hit by feelings of anxiety.

At first glance, my life in front of many people looks fun: surrounded by good friends, can buy anything, often travels and has fun, etc. However, deep in my heart, I actually harbored hatred towards a group and it had an impact on myself. It turns out I’m a very overthinking person, you know. Maybe the thing that was said to me was a joke, but at night I really think about it and it has a negative impact on the way I see myself.

Currently, I have changed, becoming a person who is anxious and afraid to create. Even though I can. In my head there are too many whispers about people’s opinions which sometimes make my heart really hurt. ANXIETY and afraid to do anything. Whether it’s fear of failure or fear of being criticized by other people.

I realized that my mental condition was still unhealthy. And my choice is that I leave the environment that is a bad influence, without respecting them at all. I don’t know what will happen, and every decision will definitely have risks. However, I don’t care, I only care about myself and how I should recover from this problem.

What I feel now

From the things I feel, sometimes it’s so annoying that I can’t work or be productive at all. The impact is like, I don’t want to meet many people, can’t speak fluently, can’t work, draw or even write something. I just lay down and slept. However, there are 10 things that I still do to just survive: even though they seem trivial, these things enable me to live my life better. And sometimes, gratitude appears and heals me little by little.

01. Make sure that the person you meet is someone who makes you happy.

Time is very limited amidst busy schedules, but try to determine priorities with whom you will meet frequently. Look for people who make you happy, simply, who maybe you don’t have to try too hard to accept. When conditions are down, we certainly cannot try to be too good. Make sure you are in the right environment to socialize.

02. Explore new places, even if it’s just exploring food or drink.

In life, we may be used to routines. However, every once in a while, you should try to find a new place to eat or drink, starting from the closest one in the surrounding area first. Everything can be checked via Google Maps.

03. Looking for a new hobby.

What I do is look for new activities that I like. One of them, it turns out I can draw and really like food illustrations. Never thought before, that a place to eat could be drawn and it could be sold. I’m still learning what monetization steps are like. However, I feel that when I draw, I can get lost in one activity without needing anyone else and I really like it.

04. Looking for a new community

Even though we have to spend a lot of time with people we like, we need to try new things like joining new communities. Sometimes, when we meet strangers, we can be ourselves without caring about our background or past. Sometimes, new friends can also be found from the strangers community.

05. Write what you feel.

I realized that by writing, you will express your irritation through writing. Writing also helps you to have a coherent and clear way of thinking. I often write on medium to find out whether what I feel is valid or not, or just to relieve the feelings that have accumulated. The way people share their stress is different, but in my opinion, rather than having to tell it directly to other people, it would be better to write it down and turn it into a new written work. And who knows, many people will be helped by your writing.

06. Give Something to Others (Charity)

Sometimes, by giving we can understand other people’s conditions much better. There is a lot that can be given, not just money, it can be skills, knowledge, life stories or moral support. Food is what brings everyone together, for example. Give anything that doesn’t make you feel heavy, then make a routine.

07. Understanding the Outside World

You can do this by reading, watching films, looking at other people’s work. Sometimes, seeing other people’s lives makes us more aware of ourselves and more sensitive to other people. Life is not always beautiful, but there are times when we need space to not always focus on ourselves.

08. Can go anywhere alone.

Lately, I often go to far away places alone. Even eating, watching cinema, going to cafes, and doing anything alone. It may feel strange at first, but it’s great because we don’t depend on anyone to be happy. We don’t need to wait for other people to accompany us and can do it alone. I also complete a lot of work just by myself. How fun!

09. Make life progress and to do lists

No one can control a person’s mental condition, not even oneself. Everything happens without any self-control, it cannot be controlled in the slightest. There are times when we have to force ourselves, including now, I wrote that my main goal is: RECOVERY TIME. This means, I have to immediately get up from these feelings of anxiety and fear. There is an attempt to immediately recover from that feeling, and try to make a to-do list or detailed activities that must be carried out that day. Although maybe not everything can be fulfilled properly. But at least, being able to achieve 20% positive progress is already good.

10. Surrender to Allah.

Yes, that is the last thing that is the best way to live, namely surrendering to Allah for everything that happens in our lives. There are times when life, which we think is bad, actually provides very meaningful life lessons. Always thinking that everything happens has a reason, really helps me to think more clearly and have more enthusiasm for life. Humans are already circulating on their respective radar lines and it is impossible to collide. Fortune, death and soul mate have been arranged to be most compatible with us. Surrender is the first, best and final way that must be done by each of us.

Those are the things I do to keep me alive, and try to live, even though my mind feels very confused. However, I still have many dreams for life that must be fulfilled one by one.

Actually, what I felt after writing this was a very high sense of excitement and made me start thinking positively about myself.

When you are underestimated, that’s only 2% of the impact on your life, and don’t make it an important thing. 98% of the influence is in every decision you make. Life is not always smooth, but at least the only person you can try to change is yourself. Hopefully you can recover from your feelings of anxiety about the future. You have to think positively about yourself.
